HTS attacks kill 4 soldiers of government forces in NW Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Four soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed and others were injured on Monday in attacks of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) in northwest Syria, according to a military source in al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room.

Villages and towns of Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama, are witnessing mutual shelling between both parties since months, resulting in casualties of both parties.

The soldiers were killed during attacks carried out by the HTS in the town of al-Malaja in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, and Basratun and Regiment 46, west of Aleppo, the source told North Press.

The government forces targeted the villages and towns of Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma, and Tadil, west of Aleppo, and the towns and villages of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, and Shnan in Zawiya Mountain, according to the source.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

In March 2020, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.
