Abducted man released after paying ransom of $55,000 in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown people released on Sunday a young man who was abducted a month ago in the eastern countryside of Daraa Governorate, south Syria, after getting a ransom of $55,000.
A local source told North Press that Abdurrahman al-Dos who hail from the city of Busra al-Sham in the eastern countryside of Daraa after was released after paying the ransom.
On Aug. 27, al-Dos was abducted on the vicinity of the town of al-Jeezah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
On Sept. 11, unknown people released a 5-year-old child after getting a ransom of $25,000.
Daraa governorate is witnessing a state of insecurity including killing and kidnaping since the government has taken control over it in 2018.
In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and the Syrian government forces reached a ceasefire agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas in Daraa. Under the deal, the opposition armed factions agreed to hand over their weapons in exchange for staying in Daraa, and those who opposed the agreement were deported to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front).
