Jordan says each truck comes from Syria supposed to carry drugs

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordan’s Minister of Interior Mazin al-Farrayeh said on Sunday that every truck entering Jordan from Syria is supposed to carry drugs. He said that the situation in Syria is one of the reasons of increasing drug trading in his country.

Al-Farrayeh told an official media outlet that Gulf countries are one of the main directions that receive drugs coming from Syrian via Jordan.

He said that 80 percent of drugs seized in Jordan are prepared to be exported abroad. Jordan’s security services conducted special campaigns against drug dealers, al-Farrayeh added.

The Syrian-Jordanian border is controlled from the Jordanian side only, amid continuous coordination with the Syrian side. However, the Syrian government is responding as much as it can, according to the Minister of Interior.

Each truck enters Jordan from Syria is supposed to carry drugs unless it prove the opposite, according to the Jordanian minister.

Al-Farrayeh talked about advanced means to smuggle drugs such as drones and hiding them in various ways.

Jordan regularly reports seizing amounts of captagon and various types of drugs. The Jordanian army occasionally declares thwarting attempts to smuggle drugs from Syrian territory.
