5 SNA militants killed in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Five militants of the Second Legion, affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), were killed on Wednesday evening in an unidentified targeting north of the city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo, northwest Syria, amidst accusations against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front).
A source from the General Security Agency in Azaz informed North Press that unknown individuals targeted militants of the Sultan Murad Division within the Second legion using silenced pistols near the village of Sijo, north of Azaz, amid SNA military alert in the area.
The Second Legion accuses groups affiliated with HTS of carrying out the armed attack following the failure of factions loyal to the latter in gaining control over the area, according to the source.
This operation comes hours after the failure of the ceasefire imposed by Turkey between the factions affiliated with HTS and others affiliated with SNA. The ceasefire pertained to the al-Hamran crossing, and extended to the villages and towns of al-Bab, Jarablus, and Azaz in northern Aleppo.
On Sep. 26, Turkish forces imposed a ceasefire that stipulated the cessation of hostilities between the HTS and the factions loyal to it on one side, and the SNA on the other side, as well as the withdrawal of HTS affiliated factions from villages they controlled, handing them over to SNA factions after clashes resulted from a dispute over crossings between them.
