HTS arrests 19 individuals including 2 women in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) arrested on Tuesday 19 individuals, including two women, in the western countryside of Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.

An exclusive security source within the General Security Service (GSS) of the HTS in the town of Harem in the western countryside of Idlib, told North Press the raid targeted several houses in the towns of Harem and Salqin, where they arrested 19 people including two women under charges of “communicating with foreign intelligence services and photographing positions and movements of the HTS in the region.”

According to the source, among the detainees are eight former militants of the HTS, who discovered they received remittances from European countries.

Since June 18, the HTS has arrested about 160 people, mostly its former and current militants, under various charges.
