Central Bank of Syria reduces value of SYP against USD
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Central Bank of Syria reduced the value of the Syrian pound (SYP) against the US dollar on Tuesday, with a new exchange rate for transfers and currency exchanges.
The new exchange rate is 11,200 SYP per US dollar, compared to the previous rate of 10,900.
The exchange rate for the US dollar against the Syrian pound in the black market, which is used in most economic activities, is around 13,500 SYP.
In the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, the exchange rate reached 14,000 SYP for selling and 13,800 for buying, currency exchangers told North Press.
In Damascus, the exchange rate for the dollar was 13,500 SYP for selling and 13,350 for buying, while in Aleppo, the exchange rate reached 13,450 for buying and 13,600 for selling, according to Lira Today website.
In Idlib, the exchange rate was 13,750 SYP for buying and 13,850 for selling. In Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria, the exchange rate reached 13,900 SYP for selling and 13,800 for buying.
