CENTCOM forces arrest ISIS official in helicopter raid in north Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday their forces carried out a helicopter raid on Sep. 23 in northern Syria and arrested an Islamic State (ISIS) official.

The CENTCOM said, in a press release, “Abu Halil al-Fad’ani, an ISIS Syria Operational and Facilitation official, was captured during the raid. Al-Fad’ani was assessed to have relationships throughout the ISIS network in the region.”

Lt. Col. Troy Garlock, CENTCOM spokesperson, said the arrest of ISIS officials like al-Fad’ani increase their ability “to locate, target, and remove terrorist from the battlefield.”

Garlock also added, “USCENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS.”

“No civilians were killed or injured during this operation,” the statement added.

On Sep. 15, Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Sulaymaniyah-based Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) supported by air surveillance of the US-led Global Coalition to defeat ISIS, arrested an ISIS militant in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
