HTS executes 3 detainees in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) executed on Monday three detainees, including a Tunisian, after they had been detained for 14 months on charges of collaborating with the US-led Global Coalition.

A source within HTS told North Press, “The execution was carried out by shooting them in the courtyard of the Western Prison near the Sheikh Bahr area, west of Idlib. They were not presented to a trail or allowed visits during their detention period.”

The source added that “one of the three who were executed was a Tunisian man named Maan bin Jummah, also known as Abu Najla al-Tunisi, and the other was Muhammad al-Subar, also known as Abu Diaa al-Raqawi, while the third person is still unknown.”

The source further added that “the three individuals had been detained since July 2022, following a raid on their homes in the town of Maarat Misrin, north of Idlib.”

The source pointed out that HTS has carried out 20 extrajudicial executions and trials in Idlib since the beginning of 2023, including two women.
