Airstrike targets HTS headquarters in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) — Unknown airstrike targeted a headquarters of Ahrar al-Sham (Eastern Sector), affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front), near the city of al-Bab, eastern Aleppo, resulting in killing of four militants and the injury of three others.
Opposition media news circulated reports suggesting a Turkish drone strike on the mentioned faction’s headquarters, while others claimed the airstrike was conducted by one of the factions of the Second Corps, affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).
Conflicting reports have also emerged regarding the casualties, whether they were SNA or HTS militants, as both have been operating together in the region since the renewed conflict over control of al-Hamran crossing in the city of Jarablus, eastern countryside of Aleppo.
North Press correspondent reported that the area witnessed a military mobilization by the SNA factions and the Turkish forces following the attacks, amid intense clashes between Ahrar al-Sham and Sultan Murad Division on the vicinity of the village of Thelthana in the countryside of Akhtarin, northern Aleppo.
HTS reinforcements, including militants and light weapons, arrived in al-Bab under the name Shahba Gathering using the banners of Ahrar al-Sham.
Since Sept. 21, fierce clashes have been ongoing between the two parties in an attempt by the HTS to advance towards Jarablus and take control of al-Hamran crossing, according to the source.
