Fine art exhibition kicks off in Aleppo city
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – An art exhibition started on Sunday in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria, under the title “Art is a vent to overcome pain.” The forum featured the participation of 18 fine art painters.
One of the organizers of the exhibition, who preferred not to be named, stated that it garnered significant attention within the art community. It brought together a number of fine artists from different cities in Syria.
He further added to North Press that among the artworks exhibited in this event were paintings depicting olive trees in the city of Afrin. “These trees endure the consequences of conflicts and tensions prevailing in the area, and overcoming pain is possible by revitalizing these endangered symbols through art.”
Afrin, a Kurdish city located in north of Aleppo city, has been under Turkish occupation since March 2018 following a military operation dubbed ‘Olive Branch’, which resulted in the displacement of about 300,000 the original population.
He said that the 18 artists showcased paintings that reflect the strength and resilience of culture in the face of crises.
Among the exhibited artworks, the paintings of olive branches stood out. The artists employed vibrant colors and various techniques to depict the beauty of these trees and deliver a message of hope and solidarity to the people of Afrin.
He also pointed out that these artworks reflect the desire to revive the identity of Afrin, despite the conditions of war and suffering that the region has experienced.
Some of the participating artists expressed to North Press their hope that measures will be taken to preserve these paintings and the cultural message that they embody.
The Aleppo Art Forum for Fine Arts is an important opportunity for artists to showcase their works and exchange experiences with other artists from different cultures. It is also an occasion to attract visitors and art enthusiasts to enjoy a diverse range of inspiring artworks. The event will continue until the end of September.
