Several security incidents reported in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press)— Residents in Suwayda, southern Syria, reported on Sunday three security incidents that took place a day earlier, coinciding with ongoing protests in the city and its outskirts.
They added that unidentified individuals threw a bomb on Qanawat Road, opposite al-Mazraa Hospital, causing material damage to shops and a fuel tanker that was present at the location.
In another incident, unidentified attackers threw a bomb in front of the al-Atrash family’s residence in Tarshan Square in the city, following a meeting convened by Hassan Abdullah al-Atrash, a candidate to succeed Fouad Shuqair as the head of the Ba’ath Party branch in the city.
It was reported that intense gunfire erupted at the Ba’ath Party branch in the city after midnight, and the reasons behind it remain unknown.
No injuries were reported in the three incidents, with losses limited to material damage.
An activist, speaking to North Press, stated, “Security incidents have been recurring in the city, and security agencies are being accused of intentionally creating security chaos to disrupt the [anti-government] protests in Suwayda.”
