Two Iranian-backed militants killed in IED blast in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two Iranian-backed militants were killed on Saturday in an IED blast in the town of al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source of the Iranian-backed Liwa Zainebiyoun said that an IED exploded in a military car of the faction near Ain Ali Shrine on the vicinity of the countryside of al-Mayadin, while they were heading to work. 

The explosion resulted in the killing of two Iraqi nationals and the injure of four others, according to the source.

The IED was planted were military cars move daily, the source added.

The Iranian-backed factions and Syrian government forces control vast areas of the Syrian Desert and eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, which continue to witness increasing activity by Islamic State (ISIS).
