AANES sets buying price for cotton

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) set on Saturday the price of one ton of cotton at $800.

According to AANES resolution No. 12 obtained by North Press, it allows the export of raw and ginned cotton in 2023 to areas outside of the control of the AANES.

The AANES did not clarify the mechanism of setting the price nor mentioned if they intend to buy the harvest from the farmers.

Cotton farmers in northeastern Syria increasingly face challenges in finding buyers due to lack of support from relevant NGOs in the region, which threatens the cultivation of cotton.
