3 HTS militants wounded in government shelling in NW Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces renewed artillery shelling on several posts of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria, causing the injury of three HTS militants.
A military commander in the Fateh al-Mubin Operation Room told North Press that government forces targeted with heavy artillery the villages of Qarqur and Kherbet al-Naqus in the northwest of Hama Governorate, central Syria, in addition to the villages of Tadil, Kafr Taal and Regiment 46 in the west of Aleppo.
The source added that the attack of the government forces on the HTS post on the outskirts of the village of Tadil, resulted in the injury of thee militants of the Liwa Talha bin Ubaydullah faction affiliated with the HTS.
The artillery shelling also occurred in the villages of al-Bara, Majdaliya, Mozra and the outskirts of the village of Kansafra in the south of Idlib, northwest Syria, without reporting human casualties, according to the source.
On the other hand, the HTS targeted with artillery shelling the posts of the government forces in the city of Saraqib and the village of Kafr Battikh in the east of Idlib in addition to attacking Regiment 46.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
In March 2020, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.
