ISIS reveals weekly toll of attacks in Syria, Iraq, Africa, Asia
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) revealed on Friday the toll of the attacks it claims to have conducted in the past week in Syria, Iraq and several regions in Asia and Africa.
Al-Naba, an online newspaper linked to the group, reported that ISIS militants conducted one attack in areas held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the past week, killing and wounding four individuals.
The newspaper said the group’s militants carried out seven attacks against the Iraqi army, four in al-Anbar Governorate, two in Diyala Governorate, one in Northern Baghdad, “killing and wounding 11 people and destroying a military vehicle and burning a military barrack.”
In western Africa, the group killed and wounded eight people. In central Africa, two ISIS attacks left behind 27 casualties and a destroyed an armored vehicle.
The newspaper also reported the group carried out one attack in each of Pakistan, Mozambique and east Asia, killing and injuring four people in Pakistan and east Asia and 11 in Mozambique.
During the first half of 2023, ISIS used its widespread sleeper cells in Syria to launch attacks, most notably against truffle hunters, in addition to planting IEDs and explosives on roads and many direct targeting with guns. The group left behind 552 casualties, including 363 killed and 189 others wounded.
