Grenade blast wounds 4 family members in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a mother and her three children were injured by a grenade blast in Gheweran neighborhood, in the southern part of the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

A doctor in emergency department in al-Hekma Hospital told North Press on condition of anonymity, “We received three children and their mother who sustained injuries due to an explosion caused by a hand grenade that one of the children was playing with at home.”

The doctor said that the injured are 26-year-old Fardous Abdul Karim Zakaria, who sustained multiple shrapnel injuries in both lower limbs, and her 4-year-old daughter Malak Ahmad al-Salem, who sustained shrapnel injuries in the left lower limb. In addition, her 5-year-old son Najem was injured with shrapnel in the back and is currently in intensive care. Another child, Dawood, who is two years old, has suffered shrapnel injuries in the abdomen and limbs. He is currently being prepared for an abdominal surgery.

The doctor added that the mother and her daughter have been discharged from the hospital after receiving the necessary treatment. However, her two children are still undergoing treatment and have remained in the hospital.

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) has not commented yet on the incident.
