Lebanese army kills Syrian asylum seeker

HOMS, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian young man was killed late Wednesday evening by Lebanese army gunfire when he and others attempted to cross the Syrian-Lebanese border from Homs Governorate, central Syria.

A source from the city of Homs stated on Thursday that Ali al-Jamal, 33, was killed last night by Lebanese army fire when he attempted to enter Lebanese territory.

The source added that the Lebanese army opened fire on a group of young men who crossed the river area, resulting in the death of al-Jamal. The group he was with managed to pull him back into Syrian territory.

Recently, the Lebanese army has been intensifying its measures to prevent the illegal infiltration of refugees from the Syrian border, according to the source.

A few days ago, a Syrian young man was killed and three others were injured in a landmine explosion while attempting to enter Lebanese territory through one of the smuggling crossings in the countryside of Homs.
