Clashes erupt between SNA factions over crossing in Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, clashes erupted between two Turkish-backed factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA) over the control and revenue of the al-Hamran crossing. The crossing connects areas held by the SNA with territories controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Aleppo, in northern Syria.

An exclusive military source said, “The clashes erupted between the two Turkish-backed factions of Ahrar Olan, close to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), and members of  the SNA’s Ahrar al-Sham, stationed at al-Hamran crossing, south of the city of Jarabulus in northern Aleppo.”

The source further stated that the factions used machine guns and mortars, leading to four injuries among Ahrar Olan and three among Ahrar al-Sham. The injured were subsequently transported to hospitals in the area, amid a state of high alert by both factions in the region.

The source added that “Ahrar Olan has successfully taken control of three checkpoints at the crossing, and the clashes are still ongoing at present.”

The Al-Hamran crossing, which divides areas held by SNA factions from those controlled by the SDF, has been a site of ongoing clashes among various SNA factions vying for control in order to exploit its potential revenues.
