Our meetings in New York focus on Res. 2254, opposition’s SNC to North Press

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Badr Jamous, the head of the Syrian Negotiation Committee (SNC), affiliated with the Syrian opposition, said on Tuesday stated on Tuesday that during the UN General Assembly in New York, they will urge countries and UN representatives to implement the 2254 resolution.

Jamous also stated that these meetings are based on consultation and building alliances as we seek to make the Syrian issue a top priority amid the presence of other issues concerning other countries.

On Monday, the opposition’s SNC announced  establishing an official delegation that will travel to New York to engage in a series of meetings addressing the political crisis in Syria.

A statement issued by the SNC said, “A delegation headed by Badr Jamous, the head of the Syrian Negotiation Committee, will travel days later to New York in the time of holding the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the Syrian crisis issues.”

The SNC’s action plan involves a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres and the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.

Jamous reiterated that the SNC is the official party recognized by UN resolution 2254, which outlines a roadmap for a political settlement in Syria.

Jamous further emphasized that the SNC is determined to actively engage with countries and persuade them that any solution that does not adhere to international resolutions and address the aspirations of the Syrian people will not yield effective results.
