Body of kidnapped man found in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Locals in a village in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, found on Monday the body of a young man that was kidnapped three days ago by unknown gunmen.

Nader al-Wakaa, a resident from the town of Sabikhan in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, under the control of the Syrian government forces, said the locals in the nearby village of al-Boleel found the dead body of Hussein al-Reja, 39, shot in the head.

He told North Press that al-Reja was kidnapped from a street in Sabikhan three days ago by unidentified gunmen driving a Hyundai car.

Al-Reja was a civilian and did not belong to any political party or military faction and worked as a business man in Lebanon, according to al-Wakaa.

The Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which constitutes a source of concern as it witnesses intensive operations by Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells.
