SNA hands over Kurdish detainees to Turkish intelligence
SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) handed over five Kurdish detainees from the city of Sere Kaniye to Turkish authorities. These individuals had been held in SNA prisons for several months before being transferred to Turkish prisons in the city of Sanliurfa.
A security source informed North Press that the detainees were Kurdish young men who “had been arrested in June during a series of arrests carried out by the SNA’s Military Police and Security Service in the town of Mabrouka, west of Sere Kaniye.”
The source further stated that the detainees were interrogated by the SNA’s Military Police after their arrest, and they were charged with security-related offenses.
The source clarified that they were captured while attempting to cross into Turkish territory and seek asylum in a European country.
The source also stated that the Military Police transferred the five detainees to a so-called “Counter-Terrorism Center” upon their arrest in the city of Sere Kaniye.
They were handed over to Turkish intelligence through the Ras al-Ain border crossing, the source noted.
