Second Druze leader renews support for protests in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – The second Druze religious leader, Sheikh al-Aql Hamoud al-Hanawi, renewed on Sunday his support for the protests in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, that have been ongoing for over a month.
A source told North Press correspondent, “The second Sheikh al-Aql received delegations from various villages and cities of Suwayda.”
Since Aug. 17, popular protests have been ongoing in southern Syria, demanding al-Assad to leave and implement UN Res. 2254 with a determination to continue until the demands are met.
He added that the Sheikh al-Aql renewed his support for the protests and described the demands as rightful.
The Sheikh stressed the continuation of the peaceful protests until the demands of the protestor are achieved.
