Gunmen attack patrol of Iranian-backed militia in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three militants were killed and five others were injured, on Sunday, after gunmen attacked a patrol of Iranian-backed militia in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate, central Syria.
“Unidentified gunmen, riding four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with medium machine guns and carrying the banners of the Islamic State (ISIS), attacked a patrol of the Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun on al-Sukhnah-Kabajib road, eastern Homs”, a leader from the Liwa Fatemiyoun stated.
“The attack resulted in the killing of three militants and the injury of five others, who were transported to the military hospital in Palmyra”, the leader added.
The source pointed out that the attackers fled towards Palmyra desert after targeting the patrol, while the Iranian-backed militias brought military reinforcements in an attempt to pursue the attackers.
The Iranian-backed factions and Syrian government forces control vast areas of the Syrian Desert and eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, which continue to witness increasing activity by ISIS.
