Turkey deports over 500 Syrian refugees to Syria

TEL ABYAD / IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities deported on Wednesday more than 500 Syrian refugees through Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa border crossings.

Exclusive sources told North Press that the Turkish authorities deported over 500 Syrian refugees, including women and children, and handed them over to the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).”

The sources reported that 80 refugees were handed over from the Turkish side to the SNA through the Tel Abyad crossing in northern Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria, and they were transferred to shelter centers to complete the investigation with them.

The Turkish authorities also handed over more than 420 refugees, including women and children, to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) through the Bab al-Hawa crossing in north of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria.

The sources added that the deportation process took place after confiscating all personal identification documents of the deportees by the Turkish authorities and obtaining their fingerprints and iris scans forcibly on the voluntary return papers.

Special sources from inside the Tel Abyad, Bab al-Hawa, and Bab al-Salama crossings reported that the number of Syrian deportees has reached approximately 5,500 since the beginning of September.
