SNA hands over 2 Kurdish detainees to Turkey in Syria’s Sere Kaniye
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Military Police, affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), handed over on Tuesday two Kurdish detainees to the Turkish forces in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria.
A security source told North Press that the detainees were arrested in July in a security campaign conducted by the Military Police faction and SNA’s security service in the village of Tel al-Arqam in the western countryside of Sere Kaniye.
The source further added, “The detainees were arrested under the pretense of security tramped-up charges, although they were attempting to cross Turkey to seek asylum in a European country.”
The source added that the Military Police transferred the detainees to the so-called “Counter-Terrorism Center” in Sere Kaniye and handed them to the Turkish Intelligence through Sere Kaniye border crossing, the thing that may expose them to long-term sentences.
Sere Kaniye has been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and has been controlled by the SNA factions since 2019 following the so-called “Peace Spring” military operation that aimed to push away the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Turkish national security.
