SNA attacks 8 people while trying to get into AANES areas in Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted on Tuesday eight individuals while trying to cross to areas held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Raqqa Governorate, north Syria.
An exclusive source told North Press that militants of Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction, affiliated with the SNA, stationed in the SNA-held village of Tufaha in the north of Raqqa, shot eight people who were attempting to cross the M4 Highway towards the village of Terwaziyah, north of Raqqa, in the AANES-held areas.
The source added that the targeting resulted in the injury of four people, including a woman. They were taken by the group to a hospital in the city of Tel Abyad, northern Raqqa.
This is the second incident of its kind to occur during the month, as on Sep.3, a group affiliated with an SNA faction, stationed in the village of Tufaha, shot a group of people attempting to cross to AANES-held areas south of the M4 Highway.
The city of Tel Abyad and its countryside, on the Turkish border, have been under the control of Turkey and the SNA factions since 2019 following a military operation dubbed “Peace Spring” that pushed away the Syrian democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Turkish national security.
