Landmine blast in Syria’s Hasakah injures child
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A child was injured on Tuesday as a result of a landmine explosion in the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah in northeast Syria.
The child Hussam Kamal al-Mutlaq, 31, from the village of Wadi al-Nejma in the south of Tel Tamr, was seriously injured due to the explosion of a landmine, likely to be left behind by ISIS, a military source of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.
The child was hospitalized to Legarin in Tel Tamr for first aid. Later, he was transferred to the city of Hasakah, a medical source said.
Early in September, two children were injured in a landmine explosion in the village of Salmasa, southwest of Tel Tamr.
In the first half of 2023, the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented the killing and injury of 543 individuals, 70 percent of whom were civilians. Of those, 288 were killed and 255 were injured.
