Turkey deports 580 Syrians to SNA-held areas in Syria

TEL ABYAD/IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities forcibly deported on Monday 580 Syrian refugees through Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa border crossings to areas under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).

Sources informed North Press that the Turkish authorities deported over 580 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through the Tel Abyad crossing in northern Raqqa Governorate, north Syria, and Bab al-Hawa crossing in northern Idlib Governorate, northwest the country.

They added that 120 refugees were handed over by the Turkish side to the SNA through the Tel Abyad crossing, where they were kept in shelters for further investigation.

The sources also mentioned that the Turkish authorities handed over more than 460 refugees, including women and children, to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) through the Bab al-Hawa crossing.

The deportation process took place after the Turkish authorities confiscated all personal documents and forcibly obtained fingerprints and iris scans from the deportees on the papers of voluntary return, marking the second-highest daily deportation count since the start of the forced deportation campaign.

Sources at the Tel Abyad, Bab al-Hawa, and Bab al-Salama crossings in northern Syria reported to North Press that the number of Syrians forcibly deported to northern Syrian areas has exceeded 4,400 deportees since the beginning of September.
