Landmine kills soldier of government forces in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria ( North Press) – A soldier of the Syrian government forces was killed on Sunday due to the explosion of a landmine of the remnants of war in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A landmine of the war remnants exploded near the military headquarters of the Brigade 18 of the government forces while an infantry patrol was passing in Kabajib desert, south of Deir ez-Zor, a military source of the government forces said.

The explosion resulted in the killing of the soldier Ahmad al-Zugheib, 27, who was from the city of Homs in central Syria, the source added.

Early in August, a civilian lost his life when a projectile exploded during his attempt to dismantle it in the town of al-Merei’iyah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
