Turkey hands over Syrian asylum seekers to SNA in Sere Kaniye
TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish authorities handed over on Tuesday 12 Syrians, including women and two wounded men, who were detained last week while attempting to cross into Turkey from the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northern Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.
According to an exclusive source, the Military Police, affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), the Turkish authorities handed over the two injured men, who were shot by Turkish border guards, and ten detainees, including women, through Tel Abyad border crossing in northern Raqqa, northern Syria. They were attempting to cross into Turkey from the town of Mabrouka, west of Sere Kaniye, about a week ago.
The source further stated that the Turkish authorities confiscated their mobile phones and compelled them to provide fingerprints and retinal scans to prevent them from re-entering Turkish territory by any means.
On Aug. 26, a woman and a young man were injured by the Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the border near the Mabrouka. In addition, nine others were detained.
