Government reinforcements arrive in Syria’s Manbij after escalation

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces sent on Saturday new military reinforcements to the contact lines with areas held by the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in the countryside of Manbij, northern Syria.

A military source within government forces said the reinforcement that consist of armored vehicles and troops arrived in the direct contact lines in Manbij.

On Friday, Russian aircrafts intensified overflight and shelled an SNA group after seizing a military post of the government forces in the countryside of Manbij.

The source added, “In a few days, military reinforcements will enter the area following the recent incidents that occurred, and the shelling of the armed groups affiliated with Turkey against advanced military posts of the Syrian Army on the contact lines.”

“These military reinforcements came as a response to the military and security developments in the region, the increasing security threat and to face the colonial Turkish plans,” he told North Press.
