SDF says armed groups infiltrate in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Thursday the infiltration of armed groups into villages in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, from the western bank of the Euphrates River.
In a statement, the SDF said that it is taking additional measures to pursue the armed groups that infiltrated the villages.
On August 27, the SDF launched “Operation Security Reinforcement” against Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor with the support of the US-led Global Coalition.
The statement added that these groups have begun mobilizing for an attack on the SDF in the villages. “The provision of equipment came from security entities affiliated with the Syrian regime, in an attempt to incite internal strife to serve their agendas.”
The SDF appealed to residents to resist provocative messages, highlighting that external parties exploiting rising terrorist activities aim to destabilize the region.
Furthermore, the SDF emphasized that the security-enhancing forces, led by the Military Council of Deir ez-Zor, will continue their mission to pursue ISIS militants, including infiltrators from areas west of the Euphrates.
Hours earlier, tribal leaders in northern Syria denounced the recent events in Deir ez-Zor, affirming that the “acts of sabotage” are irrelevant to the tribes of the area.”
