Turkey to build new settlement in Syria’s Afrin
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Local organizations, with Turkish backing, is bracing to construct new settlements include dozens of housing units in the village of Kafr Room, in countryside of Afrin Region, northwest Syria.
The construction process is conducted by local organizations such as Social Development International (SDI) and Sawasya in coordination with the international organization HHRD, according to local sources.
The settlement consists 18 housing units and a number of stores, as each housing unit consists 12 apartments.
The settlement located in forest area one Kilometer east of kafr room. Trees were felled by Sultan Murad faction, affiliated by the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), as the sources stated.
The sources also referred that most of the housing units will be given to the families of Sultan Murad faction.
HHRD is a humanitarian relief and development organization that concerns the long-term relief and development programs in emergencies and disaster situations around the world.
The number of settlements built by the Turkish, Kuwaiti, Palestinian and Qatari organizations in Afrin is about 29 settlements in the village of Sharran, Shaykh Hadid, and the town of Jindires, and the village of Bulbul and Rajo northern Afrin, according to North Press’s network of correspondents.
