HTS arrests official, 4 militants in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) arrested on Monday one of its officials along with four other affiliated militants in Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, as part of its ongoing security campaign in areas under its control for over two months.

An exclusive source informed North Press that “the General Security Service (GSS) raided several houses on Thalathin Street and al-Jabara neighborhood in the city of Idlib, leading to the arrest of Abu Zaid Logestya, deputy logistics officer, and four other militants on charges of collaboration with the Global Coalition and external entities.”

The source added that the detainees were transferred to the investigation department at the 107th center, which is affiliated with the GSS.

The source also indicated that the HTS is conducting security campaigns against its leaders and militants based on information obtained from previous detainees.

The HTS has been experiencing internal divisions for over two months, with one faction supporting Abu Maria al-Qahtani, a prominent leader within the HTS, and another supporting leader of the HTS, Abu Muhammad al-Julani. These divisions became evident during a recent security campaign that targeted numerous leaders and militants affiliated with the group, particularly within the GSS.
