Anti-government protests erupt in 10 areas of Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Daraa Governorate in southern Syria witnessed on Friday anti-government protests in more than 10 towns and cities.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in anti-government protests in the town of Busra al-Sham, east of Daraa, and chanted slogans demanding the “overthrow of the regime”, the immediate release of the prisoners, and the expulsion of Lebanese Hezbollah from Syria, a local source said.  

Hundreds of the people of the two cities of Jassem and Tafas protested after the Friday prayers, chanting slogans related to the “unity of the Syrian people”, the “overthrow of the regime”, and the immediate release of the prisoners, according to local sources.

For a week, anti-government protests have started in Daraa Governorate demanding the improvement of the economic conditions. Later, they have expanded as the protesters are demanding “the overthrow of the regime”, the implementation of the UNSC Resolution 2254 and the establishment of a decentralized system, and the retreat from the unjust decisions like the increase of the prices of fuel. However, the Syrian government is still taking no action.

Also, dozens of the two cities of Nawa and al-Hrak took to the streets and protested against the Syrian government, the sources added.

Anti-government protests erupted in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood in front of al-Omeri Mosque chanting slogans of the “overthrow of the regime”, local sources said.

Hundreds demonstrated in the town of Inkhil, north of Daraa, and the town of al-Muzayrib and the village of Sahem al-Golan in the west of Daraa, in addition to the towns of al-Tiba and al-Jiza, east of Daraa, demanding the “overthrow of the regime”, locals told North Press.
