Turkey deports 300 Syrian refugees to opposition areas

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities deported on Wednesday more than 300 Syrian refugees from Turkey to the opposition-held areas in northwest Syria through Bab al-Hawa and Tel Abyad border crossings.

The Turkish authorities handed over more than 170 refugees, including 66 women with their children, to the Military Police, a faction affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), through Tel Abyad and Bab al-Salameh border crossings, an exclusive source told North Press.

The authorities also handed over 170 refugees including 46 women with their children through Bab al-Hawa crossing to Idlib Governorate in northwest Syria, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), the source said.

The Turkish authorities took the refugees’ iris scans and fingerprints to prevent them from entering Turkey, the source added.

The number of those deported from Turkey exceeded 11,800 in August, according to exclusive source.
