Turkey deports over 270 Syrians to north, NW Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities deported on Tuesday over 270 Syrian refugees to areas under the control of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA) through the crossings of Tel Abyad, Bab al-Salama, and Bab al-Hawa.

An exclusive source told North Press that the “Turkish authorities handed over approximately 160 refugees, including 58 women with their children, to the Military Police, affiliated with the SNA, at the crossings of Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria, and Bab al-Salama in northern Aleppo.”

“The Turkish authorities also deported 110 other Syrian refugees towards areas controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) in Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, including 45 women with their children, through Bab al-Hawa crossing,” the source added.

The source further stated that the deportation process occurred after taking their biometric data, including eye and handprints, to prevent their permanent return. However, their relatives residing inside Turkey were not informed about their deportation to Syria.

According to private sources, “The number of Syrians who were deported from Turkey has exceeded 11,500 people during August, with expectations of continued forced deportation operations.”
