Protests in Syria’s Suwayda demand applying UN 2254
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Protestors in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, demanded on Monday a decentralized rule in Syria and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to end the 12-year-long war.
The governorates of Suwayda and Daraa in southern Syria witness protests that started in the past week and expanded to include more than 40 villages and centers in both areas.
The protestors raised signs that read “We demand the resignation of the corrupted regime, taking back stolen rights, canceling unjust resolutions, live in dignity.”
The Druze religious group “Sheikh al-Aql” and local factions in Suwayda declared their solidarity with the protestors’ demands amid a complete shutdown of government facilities in the city and strike of shop owners.
Local websites described the protest as “Civil Disobedience,” stressing they would continue to protest until their demands are met.
