Government forces injure 2 people in NW Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Two individuals were injured on Wednesday as a result of artillery and missile shelling by government forces targeting areas in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo in northern and northwestern Syria.

Military sources informed North Press that Syrian government forces targeted positions in the town of Maarat al-Numan, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells and rockets, resulting in the injury of two individuals.

The sources added that the shelling also targeted posts of opposition factions and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) in the villages and towns of al-Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, and Kafr Nabl in southern Idlib, as well as the surroundings of the villages of al-Sirmaniyah and Duwayr al-Akrad in al-Ghab Plain in western Hama Governorate, central west Syria.

Meanwhile, other military sources told North Press that al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted posts of the government forces in Regiment 46 and Basratun west of Aleppo with heavy artillery shells.

In recent days, areas in northwest Syria have witnessed an escalation of military clashes and intense mutual shelling between the opposition factions and the HTS on one side, and the government forces and Russia on the other side.
