Jubur tribe gives Syrian government forces deadline to leave Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Abdulaziz al-Meslet, leader of Jubur tribe, told North Press that they have given the Syrian government a deadline until tomorrow morning to address the matter of the National Defense Forces and expel them entirely from Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.
Earlier today, tension escalated in Hasakah as a result of the government forces’ failure to fulfill their agreement with Jubur tribe. In response, the tribe has mobilized armed members and is preparing to launch an attack on the government headquarters in the city.
“If Damascus government does not disband the National Defense, my men will storm the government headquarters and control all bases affiliated with the National Defense. We will push them out by force. Other tribes that declared solidarity will help us,” the leader said.
“After mediation and phone calls with Damascus, in addition to a meeting held with Jubur seniors, we decided giving the Syrian government until tomorrow’s 10 am to evacuate the National Defense Forces from Hasakah completely,” according to Fahad Mahshoosh, the tribe’s spokesman.
Mahshosh indicated that a man from the tribe got minor injuries as a result of shooting from the National Defense forces.
