HTS unleashes arrest campaign in Idlib’s Maarrat Misrin

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) ــ On Sunday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a campaign of raids and arrests in the town of Maarrat Misrin in the northern countryside of Idlib. The operation resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals on charges of espionage.

An exclusive source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, 18 individuals were arrested today by the HTS in the Western Neighborhood in Maarrat Misrin. Among those detained were four employees from the Civil Affairs Directorate and an employee from the Transportation Directorate, both of which are affiliated with the HTS’ Salvation Government.

The source said that the arrests were carried out on charges of collaborating with the Syrian government, adding they were transferred to Investigation Center 107, in the city of Idlib.

The source indicated that the arrests campaign came after the HTS closed of entrances to the Western Neighborhood of Maarrat Misrin by setting up checkpoints at the southern and northern entrances to the neighborhood.
