IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Opposition military sources revealed on Saturday that the Syrian government has mobilized its forces in various regions of northwestern Syria, specifically in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo. This deployment coincides with the ongoing military escalation in the area.
Sources close to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) told North Press that government forces have sent within the past 48 hours several military convoys to their areas of control – to frontlines with the opposition in the southern countryside of Idlib and western and southern countryside of Aleppo.
The military reinforcements consist of around 75 military vehicles, including tanks and rocket launchers, the source added.
The sources indicated that the reinforcements in the Idlib countryside were positioned near the National Hospital, the southern bridge, and in the vicinity of the Aleppo-Damascus highway in the city of Maarrat al-Numan, south of Idlib. They were also positioned in the western outskirts of Khan al-Assal in Aleppo countryside and the southern outskirts of the town of al-Eiss.
Meanwhile, military sources of al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, a group of armed extremist factions, including the HTS, told North Press that the room killed 13 government forces’ soldiers on Friday in northern Latakia. The government has not yet commented on the incident.
