Anticipated ISIS attacks raise concerns in Syria’s Suwayda

SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Local factions in the countryside of Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, mobilized, on Friday, in anticipation of any attack by Islamic State (ISIS).

A source from “Men of Dignity” movement told North Press that they received information indicating movements of strange militants in the eastern desert near the villages of al-Shabaki and al-Shirihi in the eastern countryside of Suwayda.

“Some of the residents of these villages left their homes and headed to other safe villages,” the source added.

Local factions mobilized in the eastern countryside of the governorate as well as some roads were closed in anticipation of their use by ISIS, according to the source.
