Government attacks NW Syria, killing individual, injuring child

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – One individual was killed on Wednesday in artillery shelling of the government forces on opposition-held areas in the western countryside of Aleppo.

An opposition military source told North Press that the government forces stationed in Regiment 46 targeted the villages and towns of Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma, al-Qasr, al-Wasata, al-Atarib, and Tadil, west of Aleppo, with dozens of missiles and artillery shells.

The shelling of the village of Tadil resulted in the killing of Khalid Abdulqader, 54. In addition, one child was injured in the shelling of Kafr Taal, according to the source.

Since early morning, the government forces intensified shelling of the villages and towns of the western Aleppo, using high-explosive rockets.

Northwestern Syria is witnessing an escalation of skirmishes between the government forces, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) and Syrian opposition factions. These clashes have led to casualties among civilians.

On August 6, the government forces shelled villages and towns in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib in northwestern Syria.
