Government arrests dozens in Syria’s Idlib for military reserve service

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces conducted raids and arrested dozens of people in the town of Khan Shaykhun in the south of Idlib, northwest Syria, in the past 48 hours to serve the military reserve service.

Exclusive sources told North Press on Wednesday that the Military Security apparatus of the government forces started an arrest campaign two days ago against dozens of individuals from the town. The campaign is the first of its kind since the government forces took control of the town in late 2019.

Up until Tuesday night, 47 people, mostly from the town as well as IDPs from nearby villages, were arrested. It was reported that 300 individuals from Khan Shaykhun are all wanted by the Military Security apparatus to serve the military reserve service.

The government forces controlled Khan Shaykhun in mid-August 2019 during a military campaign on the countryside of Hama and Idlib.
