HTS hands over foreign fighters to Turkish intelligence

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) handed over three foreign fighters who had been detained in HTS’ prisons to Turkish intelligence through the Bab al-Hawa crossing border, northern Idlib.

A source informed North Press that HTS handed over three detainees – Abu Hafs al-Baljiki, Abu Fatima al-Faransi, and Abu Jaafar al-Magharbi – to the Turkish intelligence after spending two years in HTS’ prisons on charges of espionage.

The source added that the handover was done under the supervision of Abu Maria al-Qahtani, the head of HTS’ General Security Apparatus. However, there is no further information regarding the fate of the detainees after their handover to Turkish authorities.

HTS continues to hand over foreign fighters to Turkish intelligence. In August alone, the group handed over six foreign detainees to the Turkish side, according to the same source.
