HTS arrests media activist in northern Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) arrested on Monday a media activist in north Idlib, northwestern Syria, soon after he returned from Turkey.
A local source reported to North Press that General Security Service (GSS) of HTS arrested Youssef al-Moa’athen, a media activist and an IDP from the countryside of Damascus, in Killi town, north of Idlib city.
The source added that al-Moa’athen, who hails from the town of Kafr Batna in the Eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq, was arrested a few days after his return from Turkey.
A source added that the GSS arrested him in front of his house along with his son, but later released the child.
The source pointed out that his family requested the giving back his belongings, especially his laptop, but their efforts were in vain.
HTS continues to launch campaigns against activists and opponents in the region, particularly those affiliated to Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic political party. HTS arrested more 40 members of the party in the last three months.
