ISIS claims responsibility over 2 attacks in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Friday responsibility over two attacks against Shiite visitors in the town of Sayyidah Zaynab, south of the Syrian capital of Damascus.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency said, in a statement, that ISIS militants sneaked into the town despite security measures taken by the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militia. 

The militants exploded a motorcycle bomb in a gathering of Shiite visitors, killing 10 and injuring 40 others, in addition to causing material damage, the statement read. 

Another explosion was carried out by ISIS militants on July 25 in the same way, targeting a truck carrying Shiite visitors near the aforementioned area, injuring two people and causing material damage, according to the statement.

On July 27, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that five people were killed and 21 others were injured when a motorcycle exploded in the Sayyidah Zaynab.
