Government forces arrest 4 members of one family in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a group affiliated with the Military Intelligence of the Syrian government forces raided a farmland and arrested four young men in Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.

A military group of the Military Intelligence headed by Mustafa al-Masalma, locally known as al-Kasm, raided the al-Shayyah region in the south of Daraa and arrested four people from one family, a local source told North Press.

The group took the arrested to an unknown destination, the source said, adding that the reason of the arrest is still unknown.

Daraa Governorate has been living in a state of chaos since the government forces entered it in 2018, with assassinations and robberies taking place on a daily basis, in addition to turning into a hub for drug trafficking.

In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and Syrian the government forces reached a ceasefire agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas in Daraa. Under the deal, the opposition armed factions agreed to hand over their weapons in exchange for staying in Daraa, and those who opposed the agreement they were sent to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front).
