RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Turkish authorities forcibly deported 115 people, including 112 Syrian refugees and three Afghan nationals, via Tel Abyad border crossing in northern Raqqa, controlled by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army, to northern Syria.
An exclusive source told North Press that the pace of deportation has increased in recent days, mostly from the Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ain border crossings in the northern countryside of Raqqa and Hasakah, controlled by the SNA.
On the same day, the Turkish authorities also deported 180 Syrian refugees, including women, to Idlib in northwestern Syria via Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, bringing the total number of deportees from this gate during this month to 1,300.
Since the beginning of July, Turkey has launched a deportation campaign against the Syrian refugees residing in its territory, especially in Istanbul.
On July 18, Turkey deported 130 Syrian refugees, including women, to areas in Idlib via the Bab al-Hawa crossing.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously told reporters that the number of the Syrian refugees who have “voluntarily returned” has exceeded one million and will increase in the future.
